TYPES OF WALKING

FITNESS THROUGH WALKING
(Senior Strolling)

Race-walkers  are competitive walkers who use the Olympic race-walk form.
Power-walkers walk fast and/or use weights for a workout while walking.
Fitness-walkers walk either fast or slow, but they walk with the goal of improving their health and fitness.
Speed-walkers walk fast without using weights and without using the Olympic race-walking form.
Volks-walkers participate in organized, non-competitive walking events hosted by local AVA/IVV walking clubs. At each 10K walk they earn credit towards milestone awards.

FITNESS THROUGH BIKING
(Senior Cycling)

The Sacramento area is rich with paved bike trails.  The American River Bike Trail extends from Folsom Dam to downtown Sacramento.  Believe it or not, there are some commuters who ride their bikes from the suburbs to downtown Sacramento each day on this trail.  We don't ride that far.  Our rides are designed to be slow and short enough to be healthy and safe.
A map of this extensive trail can be found by clicking here.
