Is my loss causing my life to lack spiritual fruit?
Have you asked yourself that question and then realized you didn't have the answer? This page and the links on it might help you have a more fruitful life. No matter how great your loss and pain, there is a Biblical plan that can enable you to be fruitful for the Lord .
When I think about the fruit in my life, I am reminded of an incident in the Bible concerning a lesson that Jesus taught His disciples. It is found in the Gospel of Luke and chapter five. Simon Peter and his fellow fishermen had invested an entire night casting and gathering their nets only to find them empty each time (dwelling on emotional loss can produce that "empty nets" self-depreciation).
Jesus observed those men as they were washing their nets. He directed Simon Peter to push our a little into the water so He could sit in the boat and speak to the crowds that were pressing around Him. When Jesus finished speaking, He gave a promise to the fisherman. After fishing all night and catching nothing, Peter probably thought the Lord's command was foolish. Jesus told Peter to go out a little further and let down his nets. If he did so, he would catch fish. They were obedient to the Lord's command. Then their nets were so full that they began to tear. The fishermen shouted for help because their catch was so great that the boat almost sank. Jesus told those fishermen that from then on they would be fishing for the souls of men.
Whether you are single by choice or loss, your life can be fulfilling as you experience the adventure of fishing for souls of the lost and helping others with needs. As you follow the Lord's instructions, your nets can be filled to capacity. Even in the midst of Simon Peter's skepticisms, he was still obedient to the Lord's words. Maybe the manner in which you became single has left you skeptical, bitter, angry and sad. Are you going to allow your loss to hurt you forever? Now is the time to draw a line in the sand and say, "My loss will no longer hinder me from serving God and having a fruitful life."
